Hello Ladies!
Today we’re gonna talk about body shapes. Knowing your shape is very important and also helpful when shopping. I will give you examples of the different body shapes; what to wear and what to avoid. There are 5 different body shapes: apple, pear, hour glass, rectangle, and strawberry. Let’s take a look at each shape and see which one best describe you!
Apple: larger at the bust & wider waist
Peasant tops, or tops that are longer in length, fitted at the bust and more loose fit at mid section, are great for an apple shape. You can accent some dresses with a wide belt, to give a more slimming look. Bustier ladies you want to make sure that you invest in a great bra so that you will have a chic, and clean look!
Avoid: Tight clothing, short shirts, jackets, blazers, and high waist pant.
Pear: smaller bust & amp; waist, wider hips
Fitted clothing are great for pear shapes. Jeans, dresses, and many other fashionable items look great on pear shapes. Belted items work well too ex: mid-length, belted trench coats or belted dress.
Avoid: Baggy clothing & boxy tops as this will hide your shape. Cargo pants are a no-no, the low pockets will make the hip area look wider.
Hour glass: curvy shaped; from shoulder to hips with a small waist
Clothing that fit at the waist area are very flattering to an hour glass shape. High waist pants, pencil skirts, almost type denim looks great with this shape! Peplum tops are a great fit and so much more!
Avoid: Loose fit, slouchy clothing and items that will hide your shape.
Rectangle: no curves, hips are generally similar in width as your shoulders, flat bottom
3/4 sleeves, shift dresses, mid-length coats & dresses all look great! Tucked blouses with dress slacks or wide leg pants are a plus! Biased cut dresses and A-lined dresses will give a rectangle shape definition.
Avoid: Swing jackets and shorter sweaters, this will lengthen the torso area. Plain front pants will give a boxy look.
Strawberry: broad shoulders, average-large bust, narrow hips
Sleek tops and blouses, dresses that are fitted at the bust, or A-lined is a plus.
Avoid: Bulky clothing or knits and puffy sleeves or shoulder pad items.
No matter what your shape or size is love the skin you’re in, and remember that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by God. As a little reminder the correct size, style, and color under garments will play a major role in how well your clothes will fit & look on you.
